Early Iron Age sanctuary at Kamen Rid

9th century BC -

The sanctuary at Kamen Rid (Stone Ridge) operated between the 9th and 6th century BC. The space was re-arranged in the 4th century BC. It was surrounded by stone walls to the south and north. The southern area was allocated for an area of ritual pits and sacrificial hearths, in which the rituals left broken vessels and gifts including figurines, jewellery, and traces of human and animal sacrifices. During the Hellenistic period two stone circles were constructed in the northern part of the sanctuary.
